september
August was a month of pleasant distractions. I met Bruce’s first great grandchild and felt so much love for this little guy and his amazing parents. I helped a friend do flowers for her daughter’s wedding and was engulfed in the miracle of dahlias. I loved teaching a three-day workshop at Bellissima Art Escapes with a group of talented artists.
Today, a cool breeze drifts through my office window announcing the beginning of autumn. I love the cooler temperatures and drowsier mornings. I feel the beginning of winter and the restorative, quieter days ahead.
I feel the freedom of unscheduled time.
My studio is cleared of past finished work. My mind is relaxed. I pick up some old tiny pieces that had been torn from a larger piece years ago (2” x 1.5”) and slowly added more stitch to them.
It feels good.
Soon, I’ll move on to something new. Maybe sunrise and sunset will call to me again. Yesterday, I made the little piece at the top of the page and love its frailty.
Or maybe I’ll come back to fields in a new way.
Or maybe something entirely new.
I don’t know.
But I am enjoying this time when I can let intuition slowly pull me in the next direction.
It’s necessary.
I savor it.

Thank you all for so many wonderful comments and emails on my last blog. They boosted me. Last month’s piece is on the way to Vermont.
For this month’s give-a-way, I chose this little “daybreak” piece. Subscribe to my blog (if you aren’t already) and leave a comment with your email. I’ll pick one at random at the end of the month and off it will go.
As always, I appreciate your comments. Squarespace doesn’t automatically send you my reply, but I read and appreciate all of them.
Warmly,
